We have arrived at the final, and perhaps most profoundly human, of the five essential skills. If resilience is the engine, curiosity the steering wheel, adaptability the hands-on driving skill, and systems thinking the satellite map, then empathy is the moral compass that ensures we are travelling to a destination worth reaching. It is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another, to step into their shoes and see the world from their perspective. It is the invisible thread that connects us to each other, the foundation of all meaningful relationships, ethical action, and collaborative success.
